The Answer to Every Excuse for Not Writing Your Book

ree

Let me guess. You have been carrying around the dream of writing a book for years. Maybe even decades. You tell yourself you will get to it someday.

Here is the truth: someday is a lie. It keeps you stuck in the fantasy of one day instead of taking action today. And if you are honest with yourself, someday has already stolen enough time from you.

I want to talk about the most common reasons people delay writing the book that is already inside them, and why those excuses do not need to hold power over you anymore.

“I don’t have time.”

This is the easiest excuse to grab onto, but also the least true. Time will not magically appear when life calms down. You create it. Even fifteen minutes a day adds up. It is not about waiting until you have three quiet hours to write. It is about showing up in the messy middle of life and making small, consistent progress.

“I don’t know what to write about.”

It is perfectly fine if you do not know yet. That is where guidance matters. In my course, I walk you through how to uncover your genius book idea and shape it into something that feels aligned with who you are and what you want to share. Clarity comes from the act of exploring and writing, not from waiting around for lightning to strike.

“My story isn’t really that special.”

This one breaks my heart, because it is never true. You might think your experiences are too ordinary, but to someone else, your story could be the very thing that changes their perspective, gives them hope, or makes them feel less alone. What feels normal to you can be life-changing to someone who has never heard it put into words before.

“What will people think?”

The fear of judgement can be paralyzing. Maybe your family will roll their eyes. Maybe a friend will whisper, “Who are you to write a book?” But their opinions do not pay your bills, they do not feed your soul, and they will not create your legacy. The people who matter will cheer you on, and the rest were never your audience in the first place.

“I’m afraid of being seen.”

Of course you are. Writing is vulnerable. Sharing your truth means letting people see parts of you that you usually keep hidden. But here is the secret: that vulnerability is what creates connection. The very thing you fear is the bridge that will lead your readers straight to you.

Why your story matters

Your book is not just about you. It is about the people who will one day read it and feel less alone because of your honesty. It is about the younger version of you who needed these words years ago. It is about leaving behind something meaningful, not just more “stuff.”

If you are ready

If something in you is stirring right now, pay attention. Do not wait until retirement, until the kids move out, until life gets less busy. None of that will make it easier.

That is exactly why I created my course on how to write and self-publish your book. Not because you need another to-do list item, but because I know how much easier it is when you have someone to guide you step by step. My role is to help you uncover your story, refine your message, and hold you accountable until you have a book you can hold in your hands.

No more waiting for someday. Your story deserves to be written. And the world is waiting for it.
